Fred D. Anderson
Fred D. Anderson joined Apple Computer as executive vice president and chief financial officer in March 1996. In his capacity as CFO, Anderson oversees the controller, treasury, investor relations, tax, information systems, internal audit, and corporate development functions. He reports to Apple Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Gilbert F. Amelio.
Anderson, 51, comes to Apple from Automatic Data Processing (ADP), where he was vice president and chief financial officer. In that capacity he oversaw the controller, treasury, internal audit, tax, investor relations, real estate and facilities functions. He joined ADP in August of 1992 when the company reported revenues of $1.9 billion. ADP now has annual revenues in excess of $3 billion.
Prior to joining ADP, Anderson held several domestic and international executive positions at MAI Systems Corporation, including president and chief operating officer as well as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He also served as a member of the company’s board of directors. Earlier, he was a manager in the consulting division of Coopers & Lybrand.
Anderson’s career accomplishments include development and implementation of a major restructuring plan; completion of a public equity offering; negotiation of several software company acquisitions; reduction of accounts payable, inventories and fixed assets; and successful negotiation of debt financing for expansion activities.
Anderson received a bachelors degree in economics from Whittier College and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles. He served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force and is a certified public accountant in the State of California.
