O2 eaddr changed

Problem
The MAC address of my SGI O2 changed to ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff and so I can't use the Ethernetcard of my O2.
I tried to change the address with (at the command mode) setenv -f eaddr and then the address. But it didn't work.
So can someone help me. Do I have to change the Dallas chip of the systemboard?
Response
Put the PCI cardcage back in. If it is already in, and it still reads all FFs, you're hozed. The ethernet MAC level address is stored in a 3 pin Dallas IC (looks like a transistor) on the PCI card tray riser board. They're laser written, and you can't change them or write your own.
Time for a new PCI card tray from SGI.
