Description

The Cisco Aironet LMC-352 is a 802.11b, 16-bit, PCMCIA Type-II WiFi network card released by Cisco sometime around 2001, and discontinued sometime around 2007. It was compatible with DOS, Windows 9x, and Windows NT based operating systems (NT/2K/XP/Vista). Often it is a part of a larger assembly that includes a PCMCIA to PCI interface card to plug it into a desktop computer. It is based on an Augere chipset.

Technical Details

The Cisco Aironet LMC-352 is a PCMCIA Type-II 16-bit card that uses an Agere chipset, and was usually bundled with a PCI PCMCIA card adapter for desktops, but also works as a standalone PCMCIA card as it is internally identical to the Cisco Aironet PCM-352. The major difference being the PCM-352 had it's antenna built in, while the LMC-352 had 2 MMCX connectors on the side of the card with the status LED lights in the middle.

It uses the 802.11b standard, with a maximum throughput of 11mbps over a standard WiFi. Originally it was only compatible with WEP encryption for security, but further software and firmware updates allowed it to be used with WPA-PSK in later versions of Windows from 98 SE onward.

It was available with packet, NDIS, ODI, and other drivers for DOS, Windows 3.1x, Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and had native Support in Windows XP.
