Description

Dell Computer Corp was originally founded as PC's Limited in 1984 by Michael Dell in his Houston Texas college dorm room. What made his company unique was his computer company was largely a built-to-order, mail-order-only company where they would advertise in computer magazines and later on, other places. One of the first models was the PC's Limited Wugo XT.

In 1987 PC's Limited rebranded to Dell Computers and started selling them under that brand from that point on, eventually gaining major foothold in the market. In the early 1990's, the well known lines started to appear such as Latitude laptops, Precision high powered workstations, Dimension and Inspiron consumer products, and the OptiPlex enterprise desktop line. Currently Dell is still one of the most popular "wintel" computer manufacturers in the world, still manufacturing PC's for both the professional and consumer markets.
