Powered by a 32MHz Motorola 68030 but a bus speed of only 16MHz, resulting in slower performance than some models such as the Macintosh IIci.
One of the first Macintosh systems to offer an available internal CD-ROM drive. The IIvx is a faster clocked version of the Macintosh IIvi. This form factor is reused for the Power Macintosh 7100.
General Information
The IIvx was aimed directly at the mid-range market. It introduced a new case design (the first case built with an internal CD-ROM in mind), and ran on a 32 Mhz Motorola 68030 processor with a Motorola 68882 FPU. However, the 16 Mhz bus made it roughly equivalent to a 25 Mhz IIci. The IIvx cost $2,950.
Codename: Brazil. The IIvx was introduced in October 1992 and discontinued in October 1993. Originally shipped with System 7.1 and system enabler 001.
