Description
The NEC Versa 50E was the 50MHz entry into the Versa "E-Series". These were intel 486 DX2 SL based laptops, this version of which was the 50MHz model - PC-450-xxxx. The Versa 50E was much the same as the NEC Versa 40E except clock speed.
Technical Details
When NEC released the E-series in December 1993, there were initially 2 models, the 40E, and this one, the 50E. The 50E was the 50MHz model (obviously) but otherwise was pretty much identical to the Versa 40E in every way.

- 4MB of RAM, Expandable to up to 20MB using 4/8/12/16MB memory cards

- Removable 1.44MB 3.5" Floppy Drive, that can be exchanged for a second battery
- Hard Disks in "VersaPak" models in 120, 250, and 325 MB Capacities
- Western Digital WD90c024 1MB SVGA Video
- A choice of four detachable screens
- 640x480p Monochome DSTN 9.4" - 50E
- 640x480p Color Active Matrix 9.4" - 50EC
- 640x480p monochrome DSTN 9.4" w/ Pen/Touch - 50EP
- 640x480p color Active Matrix 9.4" w/ Pen/Touch - 50ECP
- 2x PCMCIA Type II Expansion Slots
- 7.2v NiMH 3400 mAH Battery boasting 3.5-4 hours of battery life per battery
- VersaTrak Trackball located beneath the spacebar
