Description
NanTan was founded in 1987 in Taiwan, beginning production of their laptop products in 1990 starting with the NanTan 2x00 series laptops (2100/2200). In 1992 they setup the brand "Clevo" as their U.S. Subsidiary, eventually taking the name for themselves. They also had a subsidiary known as Kapok who was absorbed into the company in 1997. Kapok seems to be the actual manufacturing house for all NanTan/Clevo products up until 1997.
They were considered to be a "Baretop" provider, providing "barebones" laptop computers - about the closest thing to a industry-standard laptop - to other companies to sell under their own name.
