The PCI based 7200 replaces the NuBus based Power Macintosh 7100. The 7200 shipped with a PowerPC 601 with clock speeds between 75-120MHz.
General Information
Bringing PCI to the entry-level, the Power Macintosh 7200 was introduced in August 1995 and came in the same case as the Power Macintosh 7500. It was available with either a 75 or 90MHz PowerPC 601 processor, and sold for $1,700 for the 75 Mhz and $1,900 for the 90MHz model. The 7200 was "speed bumped" to 120MHz in April 1996. There was also a PC compatible 7200/120 with a Pentium processor card in one of its PCI slots.
Codename: Catalyst. The 7200 was discontinued in February 1997. Originally shipped with system software 7.5.3.
Expansion
The 7200 offers 3 PCI expansion slots.
Notes
- Due to age, the plastic components of this case design are very fragile. One common failure is the power button breaking.
