The 7600 is a PCI based Power Macintosh with the PowerPC 604 processor.

General Information

The Power Macintosh 7600 was a Power Macintosh 7500 with a 120MHz PowerPC 604 processor (a new model number was given to the 7600 as a result of the new processor type). In August 1996 the 7600 was "speed bumped" to 132MHz. The 7600 was replaced in early 1997 by the Power Macintosh 7300. There was also, briefly, a 200MHz PowerPC 604e model.

The 7600 was discontinued in April 1997. Originally shipped with system software 7.5.5 and system enabler 702.

CPU

A 120 or 132 MHz PowerPC 604 microprocessor card with built-in FPU and 256K cache.

Memory

16 MB of DRAM, expandable to 512 MB using 168-pin, 70 ns, 64-bit DIMMs.

Video

  • 2 MB VRAM, expandable to 4 MB.
  • Fast 64-bit data path to VRAM
  • Support for display resolutions of up to 1,280 by 1,024 pixels
  • 24-bit color up to 1,152- by 870-pixel resolution
  • Refresh rate of up to 75 Hz

Expansion

The 7600 features 3 PCI slots.
