The PowerMac 8100 is the first Power Macintosh tower model, originally using an 80MHz PowerPC 601 processor. It shares the same case design as the Quadra 800 series and the Power Macintosh 8500.
Expansion
The 8100 is a NuBus based system and also features a PDS option for a video card, though it does also have onboard video. The system can also be upgraded with faster CPUs via PDS, and some upgrades will still allow you to retain the PDS video card.
Notes
- This model, along with the Power Macintosh 6100 and Power Macintosh 7100 are the original systems compatible with the Apple Copland operating system which was never finished, but leaked beta copies exist.
