REALmagic Explorer
Sigma Designs, the company who pioneered affordable hardware accelerated MPEG playback for desktop computers, now brings REALmagic to the realm of notebook and sub-notebook computers. Utilizing the new Zoomed Video standard, the REALmagic Explorer chipset enable a single Type II PCMCIA card to have the full functionality of a REALmagic MPEG playback controller.
The REALmagic Explorer chipset is the first available chipset to enable ZV Port capable notebooks to be 100% MPC3 compliant. Cards using this chipset are fully compatible with all titles developed for the REALmagic and OM-1 standards. All applications developed with the REALmagic cards will work without modification. This will enable hundreds of REALmagic compatible business applications, ranging from interactive training, education, kiosks, and presentations, to run on the next generation of Zoomed-Video-capable notebook computers. Business travelers will be able to carry with them a full-featured multimedia presentation system that provides the ultimate in full-motion video playback.
Toshiba, Panasonic and Smart Modular have licensed the Explorer Zoomed Video chip set and will be (or already is) marketing product based on this chip set.
