These terminals are based on the [[Motorola 68000]] and are designed to be connected to a larger server/mainframe (such as a VAX) and boot over a network.
First models of the IRIS 1000 line released around 1984. Later models of the IRIS 1000 line ran at up to 10MHz (IRIS 1400, IRIS 1500). Later models also included hard disks.
